Two bantamweights heading in opposite directions will meet at The Forum.

MMA Fighting confirmed with officials that Leandro Higo (18-5) will fight Shawn Bunch (9-3) in a bantamweight bout at Bellator 228.

Higo, a one-time bantamweight title challenger whose last fight took place at 145 pounds, is looking to break out of a 1-3 slump. He has lost back-to-back fights, most recently falling to Aaron Pico by first-round TKO in September of last year.

The 36-year-old Bunch is 2-0 since returning to Bellator last November. He has won five straight fights, knocking off Dominic Mazzotta and former Bellator champion Joe Warren in his last two outings.

Bellator 228 takes place at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., on Sept. 28. In the main event, featherweight champion Patricio Freire defends his title against Juan Archuleta in what will also serve as an opening round Featherweight World Grand Prix matchup. The show will air live on the streaming service.
