Thomas Gifford is in danger of missing out on Saturday’s UFC show with opponent Brok Weaver out.

MMA Fighting confirmed with sources that Weaver has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming lightweight bout opposite Gifford at UFC Tampa, following an initial report by MMA Junkie. The reason for Weaver’s withdrawal was not specified, though the fighter himself took to social media to address comments from Gifford directly, claiming that he is not having issues with making 155 pounds nor is he injured.

Officials are working on finding a new opponent for Gifford (17-8, 2 NC), who made his UFC debut in a losing effort to Roosevelt Roberts in April. That snapped a five-fight win streak (excluding one no-contest) for “The Young Lion.”

Weaver (14-4) was signed to the UFC earlier this year following a unanimous decision win over Devin Smyth and an impassioned plea to Dana White on the Contender Series.
